This morning, I woke to a comment on google/blogger that peaked my interest.

I don't want to say I'm endorsing the campaign. However, I watched it and realized something: Everyone who has cancer has a story. Each story is different.
My cancer kills 7-14 days after it begins. Kills. There is no time to think about second opinions. No time to think about going to work the next day. No time to research alternative medicines. People before the 1980s who had APL died. They died quickly thinking they had the flu or miserable, hooked up to tubes inserting chemo that doctors knew would not work, instead just buy a small window of time.
After going in to urgent care on Feb 2, 2013 for what I thought was the flu, I was told I might have leukemia and was transported to a hospital in Chicago. I spent almost 5 weeks being treated for APL (Acute promyelocytic Leukemia). Now I'm on the road to recovery. Cancer can come without warning and it stops your life in its tracks.

New Year-- Getting organized with the paperwork
As a cancer patient, I get tons of mail. I means TONS of mail...mostly bills, claim receipts from the insurance company, just lots of stuff. It usually piles on the table until I move it to the desk and then piles there until my boyfriend can't take it anymore.
With a new year, its time to get it all organized!
Here's what I'm doing to organize this weekend:

Happy Friday! Happy Warmer Temps and fog and snow and rain and such...
Well, Its been a few days and I am feeling better.
I still have sniffles, but I am not going through a box of Kleenex a day. With those sniffles, there is some coughing. I don't mind the coughing, its rare, only when I get up after sitting or laying down for a long time. That, my friends, is what post nasal drip is. I never knew what post nasal drip meant until this year, funny, eh? I've had it with colds, but never knew the name of it! I have all this newfound medical knowledge! Maybe I should switch careers and go into nursing.

So I have been sick...
I know its been awhile, but I've been sick. Neil and I went on a small trip to Vegas (oh how I love Vegas), and I came home with a superbug of some sorts. Well, I'm calling it a super bug anyways. My body just couldn't shake it, I felt better after a few days and then it hit me again on Christmas Eve. I went and spent my Christmas at the Emergency Room by my house.

8 days of crazy
We finally got to celebrate my remission with a trip to Las Vegas! We were there last Monday and came home Thursday. Friday morning, I woke with my usual nausea and an added bonus: feeling like I had the flu. My temperature was 99.5, I was coughing, stuffy and congested, had obnoxious post nasal drip, and felt like crap. After a call from my NP (nurse practioner), it may be the flu, and I was told to monitor my temp and stay at home. She told me to take mucinex, robitussin, and sore throat lozenges along with plenty of water, Gatorade, and Ensure.
By Saturday at dinner, my temp was 100.5. This is it. Time to go to the ER. I decided to eat dinner first and take my temp after. If I went to the ER now, I would be hungry for hours. I ate a little more than half my dinner, which was an improvement from Friday's dinner (a few bites of a ham sandwich). My temp went down to 100.3. Haha! I decided to not go to the ER just yet, and continued to monitor my temp the rest of the night. It stayed between 100-100.5 until bed, and when I awoke on Sunday morning, it was back at 98.7!! I finally broke the fever, and it was a great feeling.
I was scared of the ER. I knew from all my previous fevers this year what would happen. The blood draws, the pee test, possible poop test, the chest xray, maybe fluids. I was not looking forward to it. I didn't want to go, and I probably should have. I guess I'm a bit stubborn. But, I feel a bit better this morning. Monday morning, and I woke up and put some laundry on. I even took Frank out potty. First time in over a week!!
Where did the time go? Now I have tons of stuff to do, but little energy to do anything. Today, I was supposed to get some fillings at the dentist, but NP told me to stay inside for a few days, so I called to cancel the appointment. Hopefully I can reschedule next week.
I still have Christmas shopping to do, and about a week until Christmas. I started a sweater for my mom, but its nowhere near done and I am having a tough time with it. I need a back up plan!!
I need rest. Still have a cough and congestion, so I need to take it easy today.
More on our trip to vegas later.
